#whyichoose – Get Help & Support

Want to access help and support in relation to tobacco smoking? Well, you have come to the right place – our dedicated #whyichoose campaign Get Help & Support Page!

Youth Solutions’ #whyichoose campaign aims to educate young people about the negative health effects of tobacco smoking, while also promoting the benefits of choosing not to smoke tobacco or making safer decision around tobacco smoking.

The campaign is delivered by Youth Solutions and its Youth Advisory Group volunteers and aims to prevent and reduce tobacco smoking-related harm among young people aged 15 – 25 years. Visit the project page here to learn more about the campaign and ways to get involved.

Information and support for people quitting or wanting to quit smoking. The site also has an online social networking group a free, downloadable Quit Kit.

Quit Now website

Information and resources about the benefits of quitting smoking, how to quit and what to do if you are having trouble quitting. The website also links to other resources and campaigns and contains tools to help people quit smoking.

A telephone service available to smokers who want to quit smoking or who are thinking about quitting smoking and would like some more information. The Quitline is confidential and staffed by professional advisors. The Quitline is available from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday. Call the Quitline from anywhere in Australia for the cost of a local call (normal charges apply for mobile phones).

Quitting smoking apps

My QuitBuddy

A downloadable, free app available on the App Store, Google Play or Windows Phone Store. The app tracks the individual’s progress with quitting smoking, records personal goals, produces personalised statistics related to the individual’s success and provides motivating content. The app also features a community board and can be programed to respond to an individual’s smoking danger times.

Quit Genius – quit smoking

A free health app that aims to help users quit smoking. This app provides a programme for users to complete; which is based on the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). The app features audio sessions, exercises, quizzes, reminder, and information about smoking. Available to download from Google Play and App Store.

Smoke Free – Stop Smoking Now

A free health app that aims to help users quit smoking. Features of this app include the ability to log your cravings and receive tips to deal with cravings. Users can also see how much money they have saved since quitting; how long they have been smoke free; and information on the health benefits of quitting.
