Youth Solutions is searching for a Health Promotion Officer & Educator to join our team. Be part of a renowned organisation that makes a positive difference in the lives and wellbeing of young people.

Youth Solutions a youth health, non-government service, delivering drug and alcohol prevention and health promotion. We work with young people aged 12-25 years, their support networks and communities, to improve health, safety and connection. About the role 

• As the Health Promotion Officer & Educator you will design, deliver and evaluate health promotion projects, focused on alcohol and other drug prevention. 
• With experience and specialist skills, you will work independently and as part of our exceptional team. 

What you will do 

• Deliver engaging health education workshops and presentations to young people, community and sector. 
• Coordinate and participate in outreach and community development activities. 
• Design and contribute to health literacy resources, including digital and written content.
• Use research and evidence to inform program design and resource development.
• Collect, analyse and report on program data and outcomes. 
• Provide brief advice and referral support. 
• Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, services and community partners (including booking programs and engagement activities). 

Essential Criteria: Eligibility requirements

1. A relevant tertiary qualification (health promotion, public health, health education, social work or a related field).

2. A current driver’s licence and access to a comprehensively insured vehicle.

3. The ability to obtain required probity checks (Working with Children Check and National Police Check, (COVID 19 vaccination recommended)). Conducted after preferred candidate selection.

4. Ability to be flexible in working hours (including occasional evenings & weekends).

5. Commitment to provide regular in person delivery across South West Sydney, with a focus on Macarthur and Wingecarribee. 

Demonstratable skills and experience 

6. Facilitate group health education sessions, workshops and presentations. 

7. Plan, implement and evaluate health promotion projects. 

8. Review literature to inform good practice in service delivery. 

9. Strong written communications skills, including report writing and resource development. 

10. Strong in-house design skills to develop collateral to improve health literacy.

11. Strong relationship-building skills with a range of stakeholders. 

12. High level digital literacy, administrative processes and record keeping.
