Youth Solutions event proves teamwork is the key to success
The community will come together next week to tee-off in the name of charity; showing support for youth wellbeing.
Macarthur and Wingecarribee youth service, Youth Solutions, has again partnered with the Rise Above Foundation and Macarthur United Real Estate for second year to present the 2024 Charity Golf Day on Friday, 1 November at Campbelltown Golf Club. The event and partnership comes off the back of the charity’s most successful Golf Day to date in 2023. And just like last year, Youth Solutions – a youth health service focused on drug and alcohol prevention, health promotion and youth wellbeing – is preparing for an equally, if not better, day this year.
All funds raised are ploughed straight back into the organisation’s drug and alcohol education and prevention, wellbeing and outreach programs supporting local young people.
Youth Solutions Chief Executive Officer Geraldine Dean said the funds raised from the Charity Golf Day were crucial to ensuring Youth Solutions continued work in the community.
“Every year, we pledge to work harder, offer our projects and services to reach more young people and collaborate more with our communities and supporters,” Mrs Dean said. “Our young people need support from all quarters as they navigate the challenges of life. Funds from such events as the Charity Golf Day are vital to providing that support and, ultimately, giving our young people the brightest future they deserve.”
Mrs Dean said it was heartening that Josh and Jess Cotter, from Rise Above Foundation, and Jake and Kara Alchin, of Macarthur United Real Estate, not only shared Youth Solutions’ vision, but were willing to act on that shared passion with their proactive support of the Charity Golf Day.
“Youth Solutions needs the support of the community to continue to make a difference in the lives of local young people. We sincerely thank Rise Above Foundation and Macarthur United Real Estate for hosting this event with us again for the second year, as well as our 2024 hole sponsors, players and prize donors. Everyone’s support is key to this event being a success.”
Campbelltown Councillor Josh Cotter and wife Jess founded Rise Above Foundation in 2015, a community service project committed to helping families, charities and community groups. It operates on the simple premise of “lending a hand”. Cr Cotter explained why Rise Above Foundation decided to get behind Youth Solutions Charity Golf Day. “We admire and support the work Youth Solutions does in the community with young people,” Cr Cotter said. “Rise Above Foundation also has a passion for helping our community, so becoming a host partner of the Charity Golf Day last year seemed a natural way to meld our care for and support of our community. We’re excited to be involved for a second year.”
Macarthur United Real Estate is another local organisation which puts community at the forefront of its business model. “We live and work in the community, so it’s commonsense for us to support our community in any way we can,” Managing Director Jake Alchin said. “Supporting Youth Solutions Charity Golf Day is something we are passionate about. If we can make a difference in the lives of our young people; it’s something we want to be a part of.
Youth Solutions Manager Marketing & Engagement and Charity Golf Day co-ordinator Amanda Dillon predicted the 2024 event would be a day to remember.
“The Youth Solutions Fundraising Committee and team has put so much work into organising this year’s Charity Golf Day and with having such enthusiastic host partners, I’m certain it’s going to be a tremendous success, both in terms of fun on the fairways and from a fundraising point of view,” Mrs Dillon said.
“Because of the amazing support we received from our partners and the community, last year we doubled the size of our Golf Day competition and this year we’re maintaining similar results. We’re fortunate, and very appreciative, to have some incredibly passionate people backing our events, driving their success and getting behind our cause.”
