Reconciliation Action Plan

Acknowledgment of Country

We would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which we work, the Dharawal, Dharug and Gundungurra peoples, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and future.

Vision for Reconciliation

Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia that embraces peace and unity between Australia’s First Nations Peoples and all Australians, and a national culture that promotes respect and equity, acceptance of our shared history and removal of discrimination.

In the context of Youth Solutions, this represents a journey of continuous learning through collaboration and open-minded conversation, and continuous progress towards an inclusive and diverse Youth Solutions community that is culturally safe, culturally rich and proud.

2022 – 2023 Youth Solutions Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

Youth Solutions is proud to share our 2022 – 2023 Youth Solutions Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Developed with our team and Reconciliation Australia, the aim of the RAP is to ensure our programs and services are culturally appropriate and inclusive. Youth Solutions celebrates cultural diversity and wishes to create a welcoming, supportive and respectful space for everyone who engages with our service.

Glasshouse Mountains

The artwork used throughout this Reconciliation Action Plan is by Danielle Mate. The artwork is titled “Glasshouse Mountains”. Danielle’s inspiration comes from a love of nature, animals and the landscape. Danielle loves the colours, forms and in particular textures that she sees in the Australian landscape and draws on this regularly. Glasshouse Mountains has a very distinct form, seen in this work.

From the people we work with…

Your work has been outstanding.”

– Uncle Darryl Wright (CEO of Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation) – 2020 ZEST Community Awards

I work alongside Youth Solutions staff to deliver art based activities, particularly in the Aboriginal community. Youth Solutions are specific, creative, approachable and appropriate. I have worked with many different staff and always find that they are engaging and genuine with the young people they work with. Youth Solutions build strong rapport with our young people and deliver quality programs promoting health and preventing harm. Because their service is genuine, I would not hesitate to recommend them to schools or community groups and have done this on many occasions. I know and see first hand that their work is effective in our community and their work is professional.”

– Danielle Mate (Local Aboriginal Artist)

I love that Youth Solutions are a locally based organisation, and that the programs they offer are complementary to the school curriculum. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander focus on the programs we have been involved in is both necessary and culturally sensitive and helps equip students with the skills they need as young people.

– Aboriginal Education Coordinator from a local high school .
